FAQS
Is self hypnosis possible?
This is a commonly asked question and the answer is yes. The hypnotic state is a natural state where a person partially or totally withdraws concentration from the outside world and internalises their awareness. In fact self hypnosis is something we do very naturally every day such as day dreaming, being on automatic pilot, meditation, deep relaxation, or watching a TV show and you’re not even aware someone is speaking to you.
When we first wake up in the morning we transition from the sleeping to a waking state, that twilight state is a very natural state of self hypnosis. A Hypnotherapist simply guides a person into a natural state of self hypnosis and therefore all hypnosis is considered self hypnosis.
We can provide you with the techniques for self hypnosis so you can take this life enhancing practise into your own home and practice in your own time.
This leads onto the next commonly asked questions…
Can I Be Hypnotised?
Anyone of an average or above average intelligence can be guided by a hypnotherapist into a hypnotic state as long as they are willing to listen to the instructions given. They key to success with hypnotherapy is a person’s desire and willingness to make changes.
Can You Help With Whatever Issue I Have?
Hypnotherapy can assist with all behaviours, habits, beliefs and patterns within yourself that you wish to change. If a person has a strong desire for change, the change can happen in an instant. It is often the preparation to making the change that takes the time.
We will discuss your presenting issue with you so that there is a clear understanding of your issue, the changes that you want to make and ensuring that you are ready to make changes.
Hypnotherapy enhances the communication between the conscious and non conscious mind. It is the conscious mind that has brought you to us as you want to make changes but it is in the non conscious mind where barriers/obstacles have been created and has blocked you reaching your consciously desired outcome. This is where we come in. As hypnotherapists we bring to the conscious mind the resolutions you want so that you can make the change you want in your life.
What If I Can’t Relax?
The hypnotherapist understands that there may be some fears or anxiety that a person may have when commencing hypnotherapy. All these are discussed and by the time a person is ready for their hypnotherapy session they are looking forward to relaxing in the hypnotherapy chair.
Will I Fall Asleep?
Many people have a fear they may go to sleep or have the misconception that they will go to sleep and not hear anything. This is not so, in fact you will feel wonderfully relaxed, a feeling that people enjoy and look forward to in their hypnotherapy sessions. During this relaxed state your mind may even wander but mentally you take everything in as the subconscious mind is always listening.
Will I Cluck Like A Chicken?
Hypnosis is powerful and you may have seen things like this on TV programs. This is where hypnosis used for entertainment and therapy differs immensely. We cannot make you do anything you do not want to do. We are 100% focussed on empowering you to create the changes you want in your life.
Can You Control My Mind?
Absolutely not! As hypnotherapists we can only change what you want to change. We can work only with what you desire for yourself. Our skill is empowering you to use your mind to create the life you want.
How Do I Know I’ve Been Hypnotised?
You will notice changes around whatever your presenting issue is, whether it is to stop smoking, lose weight, break addictive habits, deal with past traumas, fears, phobias etc. Often people experience a form of time distortion where they think they have been in hypnosis for 10-15 minutes where as in reality it may have been ½ – 1 hour.
How Many Appointments Will I Need?
This depends on your presenting issues and your desired outcomes. We can discuss this during your initial phone consultation and/or at your first session. Hypnotherapy is very powerful and can work quickly. Every issue is unique to each person and therefore the timeframe may differ between people. For example one person who wishes to lose weight may find that 3-5 sessions is enough for them to make the changes they desire, but someone else who wishes to lose weight but has a trauma behind their weight issue may have a different time frame for achieving the results they want.
Many people who have tried other methods such as psychotherapy or counselling are surprised how quickly they see results with hypnotherapy.
How Long Does A Hypnotherapy Session Last For?
Usually between 1-2 hours.
Will I Achieve The Outcome I Want?
We commit to working with you as long as you desire to make changes. People who are most dedicated and passionate about making change in their life are the people who see the best results. With our support and your own commitment to change you can create whatever you like.
Will The Hypnotherapy Last?
Hypnotherapy is powerful and delivers tangible results. It is not a ‘magic’ cure. Some people find that one to three sessions are enough for the changes they wish to make. Others require ongoing sessions as some issues take time to resolve. Again, this depends on your goals and your personal level of commitment to change.
What Makes You Different To Other Hypnotherapists?
Our practitioners are living examples of the benefits of hypnotherapy. We practise what we preach. There is nothing ‘airy fairy’ or mysterious about how we work. For long distance clients we offer back up support via Skype and telephone if required.
We also have available a selection of CDs and books that we may recommend to assist you further.

Will My Issues Be Resolved?
Hypnotherapy is about making changes to areas in your life that you want to change. This may mean learning more about yourself, uncovering forgotten life events, resolving issues, making changes in your belief systems, becoming more relaxed, being able to deal with issues in your life more easily.
It is remarkable the changes it can make in people – once they are empowered to take control of their lives they often have greater happiness. For many of us, issues come from external forces. What we can say is that through hypnotherapy you can make a difference to the way you interact within your world and with people in your life.
Past Sessions Have Not Worked. Will This One?
Every person and situation is unique. At your initial contact we will endeavour to answer all the questions you may have and provide you with as much information as possible. This way you can make a full assessment and be comfortable in your decision to proceed with any hypnotherapy sessions with us.
If you can follow instructions and have the desire to make changes there is no reason why your hypnotherapy session(s) will not work.
We commit to working with you as long as you are committed to making change.
Will I Feel The Same Way As A Person?
Hypnotherapy is an effective method of making changes that you want, hence you will still be you. But the parts of yourself that you have struggled with will start to shift. Having problems, habits, fears, phobias and other issues makes it hard for some people to embrace fully who they are.
Once you are given the tools to create positive changes, you will be able to be the person who you want to be. If you are able to be who you want to be, life becomes more enjoyable, you become happier and more contented and those around you do notice.
Do You Work With Groups?

For ongoing appointment discounts are given to clients that require longer than 3 sessions and further discounts apply for those requiring 6 sessions or more. Pensioner discounts are given.

Do You Guarantee Your Work?

What Changes Can I Expect?
There are many. You can expect changes around the core issue you wish to address (stopping smoking, breaking other habits, improving sleep patterns etc). You may also experience changes in a more general sense as you are more aware of your own potential, joy and life’s purpose. Many people can ‘see’ their lives more clearly and start making decisions that are more positive, which may attract to them the things they want – greater love, connection and fulfillment etc.
